Sweat Corrosion on Glasses: Follow the Moisture Before Blaming the Metal

The first evidence often appears at a place that stays wet after the rest of the frame looks dry: the hinge barrel, screw head, nose-pad arm, rim joint, temple core, or the underside against skin. White, green, reddish, dark, rough, or bubbling changes can reflect salts, finish wear, plating damage, metal corrosion, residue from skin products, or a combination. Inspect after high-sweat events rather than waiting for color change. Look at screw heads, pad hardware, rim joints, and temple contact areas under broad light. Early removable residue is easier to manage without aggressive products.
